Celebrating International Women's Day 2018

Shelley Martin participates in Network of Executive Women Panel
IWD2018

Today marks International Women's Day – an annual global celebration held on March 8 to recognize the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. Now more than ever, there's a strong call-to-action to press forward and progress gender parity. A strong call to #PressforProgress. A strong call to motivate and unite friends, colleagues and whole communities to think, act and be gender inclusive.

In honour of International Women’s Day, Shelley Martin participated in a panel discussion event hosted by the Network of Executive Women, (NEW) an organization whose mission is to advance women-grown business and transform our industry’s workplace through the power of community.

Among our President and CEO, the panel included other stellar industry leaders including: Marcy Graham, Vice President, Sales and Canada Country Lead, Mondelez Intl, Inc; Josianne Legare, Senior Vice-President of Sales Canada, Lassonde; Brooke Leland, SVP, GM English Canada, Cossette Media; Lori McIntosh, Founder & CEO of VIM & VIXIN.

Over 250 women and men attended the event which involved a progressive discussion of women in business.

At Nestlé, diversity and inclusion are an integral part of our culture, which is why globally; we have identified three key ways to drive diversity and inclusion in our company.

  • Culture: building an inclusive culture and putting the diversity of our employees to best use by working together
  • Innovation: thinking about the needs of diverse consumers and making our products and services more accessible – whenever, wherever, however.
  • Society: acting and engaging in an inclusive way with society and stakeholders in our diverse business environments and across the entire value chain.

In Canada, we’re proud to share that at the end of 2017 we had 48% female managers – making us the highest in the Zone for this period.

We know that everyone can play a part in helping drive better outcomes for women. Through meaningful celebration and targeted bold action, we can all be responsive and responsible leaders in creating a more gender inclusive world. How will you #PressforProgress today and every day?
