Nestlé Canada shoots another hole in one for kids

Kids Help Phone cheque presentationOn August 23, Nestlé Canada presented the 14th annual Kids Help Phone Golf Classic at the Angus Glen Golf Club in Markham, Ontario and through the generous support of Nestlé’s suppliers and customers, the event raised a record-breaking $307,000 - an incredible 30% increase over last year. Nestlé is proud of its long-time commitment to this important cause. Over the years, this golf tournament has helped contribute more than $3 million of vital funds to the youth counselling service.

Nestlé is a founding sponsor of Kids Help Phone, the only national, bilingual, confidential and anonymous toll-free phone and online counselling service that provides professional support to kids, teens and young adults, 24/7/365. The evening was hosted by CityTV’s Gord Martineau, a passionate supporter of the organization, with special guest speaker Eric Windeler, father of the late Jack Windeler and volunteer-lead of The Jack Project at Kids Help Phone, an initiative aimed at mental health awareness and support for youth transitioning from high school to post secondary.

With the funds raised during this event, Kids Help Phone plans to continue investigating and developing new counselling methods in order to reach more kids in more ways. As today’s youth spends more and more time on electronic devices, technology-based communications and outreach efforts will ensure the professional counsellors at Kids Help Phone are able to offer the most effective, timely and valuable counselling service to the 6.5 million kids in Canada anytime, anywhere.
